Employees do not share face masks, equipment, stationery, utensils or similar items;
Designated and trained health and safety officers take the temperature of employees at the start of each shift and every 4 hours thereafter;
Records of employees’ temperatures are kept;
Employees with temperatures of 37.5 degrees or above are immediately moved to an isolation room and subjected to a second temperature test;
If the second test exceeds 37.5 degrees, the employee is sent home for self-quarantine with a surgical mask and is not permitted to remain on or enter the work premises;
Priority is given to goods manufactured in South Africa;
Alternative payment options are made available to promote social distancing and to make delivery services more accessible to poorer customers;
Customers are provided with written guidelines on how to safely disinfect goods before use;
Collection protocols that promote social distancing are implemented when couriers or delivery services collect goods from warehouses or depots;
Goods are sanitized in line with the Department of Health guidelines before leaving the warehouse or depot.
e-Commerce courier and delivery services must ensure that:
Employees do not share face masks, equipment, stationery, utensils or similar items;
Employees’ temperatures are tested, and the relevant employees are isolated, in line with the protocols mentioned above;
Employees are provided with their own hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes that are refilled daily;
Employees wear a face cloth mask that covers the nose and mouth when delivering goods to customers;
Employees maintain a distance of at least 1.5m from other courier and delivery service personnel when collecting goods, and from customers when delivering goods;
Employees do not enter the homes of customers if the customer and other persons in the immediate vicinity are not wearing cloth face masks or any other suitable alternative.
When receiving goods, e-Commerce customers must ensure that:
They wear a face cloth mask or any other suitable alternative when receiving goods;
Any other person in the immediate vicinity of the area of receipt of goods wears a face cloth mask or any other suitable alternative;
They maintain a distance of at least 1.5m from courier and delivery service personnel;
They disinfect goods in accordance with the guidelines of the retailer and the Department of Health.
