Born in Bulawayo, Rhodesia (Zimbabwe), Lesley Martyn relocated with her family to the KZN Midlands as a teenager, where she completed her schooling and went on to obtain a degree in Industrial Psychology.
After managing a large private game reserve for many years, Lesley and her husband moved to their own farm in the Eastern Cape Highlands, where they farm cattle and sheep.
With the beautiful backdrop of mountains for inspiration, Lesley draws a variety of subjects, with a particular focus on animals and portraiture. Her own Nguni cattle form a major part of her artworks with their striking features. Lesley offers a limited number of custom commissions each year, pet and people portraits as well as special requests. And has recently started offering these in miniature form as well. Lesley specialises in colour pencil, which lends itself to the highly detailed, realistic style of her artworks.
Lesley has had her work featured in International Art Magazines, has won a number of awards for her art and has participated in a number of art exhibitions throughout South Africa.
Pet Portraits
Ordering a portrait of your favourite pet or person is simple.
To start, I will need you to supply me with a good, detailed photo or a selection of photos. If you are supplying a photo from a professional photographer, you will need to have permission to use it. The better the quality of the photo, the more detail I can put into your drawing!
Prices will vary according to:
- size (AS, A4, A3 or custom size these are unframed and come in a presentation box.) New on offer are miniatures, which are mounted and framed. These come in 2 sizes, 5x7cm and 7x9cm (for the inside drawing plus approx 2cm mount and 1 cm frame)

All artwork is created using artist-quality coloured pencils on archival paper, ensuring that your work of art will be enjoyed for many years to come.
